The Queue: When the headcanon overwhelms you
For writers, the benefits of using a character headcanon generator are manifold. Firstly, they save time by providing a starting point, eliminating the daunting task of creating a character from scratch. This can be particularly helpful during the initial stages of writing or when experiencing writer’s block. Additionally, the random nature of the generator can lead to unexpected character traits or histories that add depth and originality to your stories. This unpredictability can push writers out of their comfort zones, encouraging them to explore new narrative avenues and character dynamics.
He’s being raised by the really creepy PE teacher, Blackmoore. He’s a self hating, self harming kid with anger issues because his dad died after some really awful stuff went down. He has no idea that his dad is seen as a hero for turning his back on and the dying fighting the very same things that Garrosh thinks he was a stooge for. Give me one hour on a podcast with free reign and I’ll prove it already does make sense.
In Version 4, I had the question, “Who does the treasure of a deceased dragon belong to? ” with the answers “The original owners or their heirs”, “Whoever killed the dragon”, “Finders keepers”, and “If you’re arguing over who owns it you’ve already lost”. The last one got about 70%; 26% were “The original owners or their heir”, then 3% for “killed the dragon” and 2% for “finders keepers”. Please take notes that this is not them using actual researcyed Theories since these are what they believe to be canon fact within the series, its more or less them using actual fan logic aka Fan Theories. My headcanon is that they live happily ever after. Our Aerio bookselling network, and BookShop.org, built atop Aer.io, launched in 2016, and now powers tens of millions of dollars in sales, putting revenue that once went to centralized platforms into the hands of indie booksellers and authors.
This one, in my opinion, is not dangerous for trans people unless it’s written with an extreme lack of tact. One of the best examples I can come up with is Haruhi from the anime and manga Ouran High School Host Club. From the beginning, she has a different view of gender because of the fact that her father is a trans woman (she still refers to herself as Haruhi’s father, so I’m going to stick with that). In fact, there are a lot of readings one can have of OHSHC where Haruhi is nonbinary.
Less waiting for the games to get a future update and more waiting for my life to get one. If canon does not explicitly state something, it cannot be used in an argument. Don’t make people play YOUR headcanons, they can only play their own or those they share with you. An arguement about making your headcanon work for them can only be done as a hypothetical, and you do not have the right to force them to obey it. Give them a chance to explain, and then say gently, “That sounds great, but with MY version…” and they should have the same courtesy to listen to your side of it. Work with each other, see if you can make more maybe.
Headcanon (or Personal Canon)– refers to the personal beliefs or interpretations about canon that an author or reader makes to explain or account for some aspect of the actual canon. The headcanon itself, while not officially supported by the canon, tends also not to be actually disprovenor refuted by the canon and will therefore seem plausible in the mind of the fan who imagines it. Headcanons are as many and varied as the fans themselves, may be about the past, present, or future of the character or plot, and can be shared by others if particularly enticing or believable. In fact, if a headcanon character generator is so popular that it gets adopted by many members of a fandom, it may eventually become accepted as fanon for that fandom.
Now a bit of background on myself and how I got involved with all of this. Like many I was left distraught and hopeless at the April 2014 announcement of the decanonization of the EU, and could find no place on the internet with anyone who loved and respected what we had lost. Seemingly everywhere were people spouting ridiculous claims about the EU that I knew were not true but had trouble arguing against since at the time I simply did not know what I know now. In the spectrum of superheroes that ranges between “cosplayers that like to punch things” to “cosmic entity that barely acknowledges humanity exists” my preferences are far closer to cosplayers, so I do know where you’re coming from.
Which is a good look on Tony Stark, to be honest. (IN A CAVE! FROM SCRAPS!) Tony builds a consulting business, which is great. And he meets Rumiko Fujikawa, heiress of the zaibatsu that bought his company. The word “religion” derives from the Latin ligo, which means “I bind,” and religion has to do with what is binding or obligatory. Religions are not philosophies or sets of beliefs but systems of symbols, actions, and ideas that purport to bind together groups of people, or people and gods, or even the elements of nature.
So before we talk about how you can utilize canon to make your headcanon for roleplay, it’s important we talk about the three arbitrary types of canon that I made up for the purposes of this write-up. A notion behind canon is that conversations about literature rely on shared reading experiences—so long as everyone reads the same books, readers will know they are talking about the same ideas. Naturally, this use of canon extended to fan circles, referring not just to the books and movies that concern the same group of characters, but to the narrative universe that exists inside those works. While character headcanon generators are undoubtedly valuable tools, they also come with challenges.
Copies of your generator code are also backed-up to your local browser storage, so if your computer ever crashes and you hadn’t saved in a while, you’ll be able to come here to recover your data. It’s a great place to meet like-minded friends and share your thoughts on all things in the world of animation and many other interesting subjects. Weapons usually get one part per group, but sometimes multiple or none.
